The Cast

I'm still working on the text, but here are at least the reference sheets for the time being. These are made for my own use when drawing and coloring the characters. They are also useful when someone wishes to draw fan art!

Malaak

[Blurb in progress]

I recently chanced upon a character build for Malaak, designed by David Braithwaite for RPG players, which I present below unedited. I have no understanding of these things but it seems many of my readers do!

Malaak, Angel of Peace
Real Name: Malaak
Concept: Cedar-born Guardian of Lebanon
PL 8, 120 pp

Abilities: Strength 14, Dexterity 18, Constitution 18, Intelligence 12, Wisdom 16, Charisma 14

Combat: Attack 8, Damage 2 (unarmed / 8 with blast), Defense 7 / 10 with dodge / 4 flatfooted, Initiative 4, Grapple 12, Knockback 3

Saving Throws: Toughness 6, Fortitude 3 (7), Reflex 3 (7), Will 4 (7)

Skills: Climb 4 (6), Swim 4 (6), Acrobatics 8 (12), Drive 2 (6), Stealth 2 (6), Knowledge: History 4 (5), Concentration 8 (11), Notice 4 (7), Sense Motive 4 (7), Bluff 2 (4), Diplomacy 6 (8), Gather Information 4 (6), Intimidate 2 (4), Languages 2 (base Arabic, English, French)

Feats: Defensive Attack, Defensive Roll 2, Grappling Finesse, Improved Trip, Power Attack, Instant Up, Attractive 1

Powers:

Earth Energy Control: Array 8 (all powers have the ""earth"" descriptor)
BP: Blast 8
AP: Blast 8 (touch range [-1], cone area [+1])
AP: Force Constructs 5 (impervious [+1], stationary)
AP: Move Object 8

Leaping 2 (Malaak can propel herself through the air using her earth energy blasts, but so far has not displayed sustained flight)

Shield 3 (Malaak can deflect attacks by generating fields of earth energy)

Drawbacks & Complications:

Complication: Secret Identity (Malaak is a history student in Beirut; her identity is known only to her friend Adrian)
Complication: Enemy (for her interference with their plans, Malaak is hunted by the djinn and efrits of Lebanon)

The Math: Abilities 32 + Skills 14 + Feats 8 + Combat 30 + Saving Throws 10 + Powers 26 = 120

I chose to represent her self-propelled aerial movement as Leaping rather than Flight because she has not sustained it for longer than a few moments and seems to need to push off from the ground.

She has very seldom made use of the Force Constructs and Move Object powers, but definitely has them, so there they are. (She used Force Constructs to contain grenades about to explode, for example.)

She might seem to deserve some special attacking power for evil spirits, but the high lethality of her attacks against such opponents seems to be rather due to a vulnerability on their part than to any special power on hers.

I tried to design the feats and combat stats to reflect her natural talent combined with some (but not yet extensive) martial training. The feats are drawn from MaMa's Kung Fu style, since her teacher seems to be Chinese, but I threw in Grappling Finesse because there was definitely some grappling going on there too.

The Citizen Defense Brigade (CDB)

aka "The Brigade"

The Brigade is a motley group of civilians pooling their efforts and resources to protect their fellow citizens from what they perceive to be rampaging militias. Few of its members actually have a military background, but for the sake of organization they use a loose military-inspired hierarchy, with a handful of "colonels" at its head. Their job is to lead their men on the field and coordinate Brigade operations, which consist in rescue, intelligence, first aid, protection of people and businesses, and the like. The CDB, like the rest of the population, believes the city is prey to a number of armed groups, each pursuing its own interest. They have no idea they are dealing with a non-human enemy with an agenda similarly removed from human affairs. To date, Malaak has not revealed the truth to her allies, fearing it would cause more harm than good.

The Brigade's equipment is as disparate as its members. There is no standard kit, only what they are able to procure. In an effort to create a consistent look, members wear blue-grey clothing while on duty, with the CDB badge featured visibly. Old helmets and rudimentary bulletproof vests are used during operations. Weapons are either relics from long- past conflicts or captured from the enemy.

The reference sheets present a few members and directions for clothing and equipment:
