The Turkana are a nomadic population from northern Kenya, near Lake Turkana. They live in one of the harshest environments mankind has ever attempted to inhabit, and depend heavily on their livestock, their most precious (and virtually only) possession. In the process of my delvings into world cultures I received a book about them and was fascinated. In this illustration I wanted to capture the poise, pride and simple beauty of this very unique group.
