Classical painted portraits are so boring and unmemorable. On the other hand, how interesting it would be to have ladies from a fantasy world posing with their pets for the painter, just like respectable women did in our world for centuries. The title evokes this practice that's so familiar it's banal, but with the twist of the not-so-Terran name.
I didn't invent the name out of nowhere though. I've just returned from Provence, where legends speak of a dragon called la Tarasque. Since this lady's pet is some kind of small dragon-creature, I just respelled it to look more foreign!
