Latin-Arabic typography 2003	I am not trained in cursive Arabic calligraphy, but I am in the combination of Arabic calligraphy or type with Latin text. The example below shows titles from the calendar. Calligraphy by Samir Sayegh.
Illuminated book cover Spring 2000	For our Arabesque class I decided to work on a traditional-style illuminated book cover. My base motifs were a stylized snake and dragonfly, with classical vines as space fillers. This is my finished piece, actual size A3 (30x42 cm). Adobe Illustrator. Detail of the upper-left corner. The central title frame. It reads "Zakhrafat" ("Arabesque"). Calligraphied by prof. Samir Sayegh. Just for fun: I made this card as a further example of modern application of arabesque.
