Done for Charlotte Geier's poem, The Hag. I drew the tree "on site", in the forest of the Cedars. I exaggerated the curving and bending to give it the feel of a bent old woman. Greece is dry most of the year, but I chose a green season (as well as colourful clothes for the three Graces) to bring out the age and lifelessness of the tree. The scene threatened to end up as a sad depiction of an old forsaken tree though, so I gave the first Grace a smile: a smile of happiness at seeing the hag.
