Not purely a vector piece but that's the groundwork, the rest being simply texturing and colouring. This is the product of a workshop with illustrator James Yang. The subject was a news story called "Benny's Heart": a 16-year-old kid dies of a gunshot, and his heart is donated to a 60-year-old man who later on is able to physically outpower a mad gunman and save the lives of 42 people thanks to this young heart. The idea was to capture the essence of the story but without representing a heart.

What stood out to me in the story was the fact a dead boy had given a new lifeforce to a fading old man, and that's what I represented here, using a flame as a metaphor for the energy of life.
